When Rachel G Burkett-Benton was born on January 8, 1840, in Hardin, Tennessee, her father, William, was 32, and her mother, Rachel, was 26. She married John Washington Benton on March 29, 1859, in Pleasant Grove, Arkansas. They had 14 children in 39 years. She died on September 26, 1904, in Gravel Hill, Arkansas, at the age of 64, and was buried in White, Arkansas.
