Overton Roscoe Harris, 74, of Siloam Springs, died Sunday, July 9, 1995, at Northwest Medical Center.
He was born July 30, 1920, the son of Otis and Francis Mae Overton Harris. He was a retired policeman with the Tulsa Police Department. He and his wife moved to Siloam Springs in 1971. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Siloam Springs, a member of the Delta Masonic Lodge No. 425 in Tulsa, a 32nd Degree member of the Scottish Rite, a Shriner, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a member of the Siloam Springs Country Club. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He attended John Brown University and Draun's Business College in Tulsa.
Survivors are his wife, Verna Lou Harris, of the home; three step children, Robert Wayne Simmons of Seattle, Wash., Ray Vaughn Simmons of Tuttle, Okla., and Linda Susan Bryant Simmons of Edmond, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs with the Rev. Vance Eubanks officiating. Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home.

Verna L. Harris was born December 25, 1926, and passed away December 29, 2018 of a long-term illness at the age of 92 in her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Vernon Eastham and Lucille Eastham of Delhi, Oklahoma, brother Robert Kenneth Eastham, sister Leatrice Eastham Smith, husbands Ova Wayne Simmons and Overton R. Harris and her son Roy Vaughn Simmons of Oklahoma City.
She is survived by her son Robert Wayne Simmons, daughter Linda Susan Simmons-Bryant, nephews Gary Smith and Kevin Smith, niece Cheryl Smith, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Verna was a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma until 1971 when she and her husband, O.R., moved to Siloam Springs, AR. She worked as a radiologist and certified X-ray technician in Tulsa and later in Siloam Springs where she retired.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 6th at Wasson Funeral Home, 2-4 p.m. Services will be held Monday, January 7th at Wasson Funeral Home, 2-4 p.m. Pastor Joel Rutherford of the 1st Christian Church of Siloam Springs will officiate the service. Place of interment will be Oak Hills Cemetery in Siloam Springs. Pallbearers for her service will be her grandchildren Ashley Megan Simmons-Cuyle, Jacob Bryant, Jeffery Bryant, Greg Bryant and Zachary Bryant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be sent to the First Christian Church of Siloam Springs where she was a member.
