September 26, 1875 - April 7, 1964
Miss Margaret Gammill Pennington aged 88, of 376 Adams Ave., N.W. died in the Ouachita County Hospital at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Pennington was the widow of J. F. Pennington. She was a lifelong resident of Ouachita County, and was a member of the Baptist church. She is survived by six sons, Holland Pennington, and Lloyd Pennington of Camden, Taylor Pennington of Houston, Texas, James Pennington of El Dorado, Amos Pennington of Bearden, and Elmer Pennington of Bastrop, La.; four daughters, Mrs. Annie Horton of Dalton, Ga., Mrs. Margaret Barron of Camden, Mrs. Ewell Joiner of Hickory Ridge, and Mrs. Carrie Gatling of Bearden, and one sister, Mrs. Sally Childers of Bearden; 58 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Salem Baptist Church near Bearden by Rev. John Everett, and Rev. Howard Cartwright. Burial will be in Salem cemetery by Proctor Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the home until service time. Casket bearers are, Elbert Harcrow, Raymond Walker, Gurvis Taylor, Cliff Redding, Jeter Bearden, and Garland Evans.
