Harlan
August 8, 1945 - April 1, 2017
*Obituary
Harlan Oliver Pennington of Redfield earned his wings in the early morning of April 1, 2017. He was born August 8, 1945 in Camden, Ark.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Taylor and Helen Pennington; one son, Gary Pennington; brothers and sisters, Harry Pennington, Dorothy Pennington, Lucille David, and Johnny Pennington.
Harlan was a genius in his own right and could fix, build, or operate anything. He was very skilled at running any type of heavy machinery. He was a master plumber by trade, but most definitely had many other talents. He was very well respected in his community, and had a rally of troops that stood behind him and looked up to him in their time of need — whether it was to help on the farm, operate a piece of farm equipment, or fix something that was broken. And if you didn't have you what you needed, you better believe Harlan did. Some of his troops that cannot go without mentioning are Phillip Williams, Dick Richardson, James Magby and Jay Stone.
Harlan was an avid hunter and fisherman when he wasn't piddling in something else. He loved to be in the woods deer hunting or on the water, mainly the river catfishing.
He is survived by the love of his life Joann Pennington, his son Harlan Ray (Cathy) Pennington, his daughter, Stacy L. Heath; six grandchildren: Savanna Lindsay, Shannell (Robert) Stanfield, Anna Beth Heath, Aaron Pennington, Brayden Heath, Gabby Heath; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters and brother, Juanita (Topsy) Swartz, David (Hilda) Pennington, Ruth (Larry) Marter, Catherine Pennington, and Lorraine Pennington. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
