WINSLOW — James W. Tomlinson Sr., age 95, of Winslow, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018. He was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Winslow Ark., the son of William H. and Martha Scott Tomlinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruby A. Tomlinson and two sons, James W "Jay" Tomlinson, Jr. and Richard Sargent.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving two Bronze Stars and was a member of American Legion Post 27 and the Disabled Veterans of America. James was a beloved employee of the Winslow School, retiring after 20 years. James always had a joke to share and story to tell. He was cherished by the community.

James is survived by two daughters, Ann Malkie of Winslow and Paula Provence and husband Eugene of Winslow; two sons, Darrell Sargent and wife Cathy of Angels Camp, Calif., and Gary Sargent and wife Janice of Surprise, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, JoAnne Sargent of Quincy, Calif; two nephews and one niece; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at Moore's Chapel. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday at the Winslow Fire Station No. 2 (across from the ball park) followed by burial at Parks Cemetery
in Winslow, the under the direction of Moore's Chapel.

WINSLOW — Ruby Anna Tomlinson, 82, of Winslow died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at her home.

She was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Oakland, Calif., the daughter of Herman and Frances Hovestadt.

She attended the school system in Oakland and trained for bookkeeping. She was an adventurer and loved to travel. After marrying James Tomlinson, she moved to Winslow to care for James' parents. She worked for Arkansas Western Gas until she retired. Ruby was preceded in death by her two sisters, Frances and Dorothy; two brothers, Walter and Bernie and her son, Jay Tomlinson, who died last year.

She leaves her husband James after a marriage of 51 years; her daughter, Ann Malkie of Dallas; three grandchildren, Heather Malkie, Crystal Malkie, Jonathan Tomlinson and a great-grandson, Spencer Tomlinson.

Ruby will be remembered by many as a volunteer, 4-H sponsor, school activities and Booster Club in Winslow. She was on the committee responsible for building the gym and actively participated in the fundraisers. After her retirement, she did volunteer work for Winslow Community Meals. She worked for several years in the Thrift Store that supported the program and participated in fundraisers. For many years, she did the bookkeeping for the Ozark Forkways Organization. She was an avid needleworker and made quilts for all of her family. She did beautiful knitting, crocheting and was an accomplished upholsterer and made beautiful clothing.

Cremation was by Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville, online at www.mooresfuneralchapel.com.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, in Parks Cemetery at Winslow.

The Rev. Eugene Provence will officiate.

FAYETTEVILLE - James W. Tomlinson Jr., 46, of Fayetteville died April 5, 2006, at his home. He was born Dec. 13, 1960, in Oakland, Calif., to James William and Ruby Anna Hovestadt Tomlinson. He was an automobile mechanic and a carpenter. He enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include one son, Jonathan William Tomlinson of Winslow; his parents of Winslow; a sister, Ann Malkie of Rowlett, Texas; three half brothers, Darrell and Richard of California and Gary of Arizona; one grandson, Spencer Tomlinson.

Cremation was by Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Private services will be held.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Winslow Community Meals, 1057 Ella Road, Winslow, 72959.
