When Thomas (Tom) Franklin Clifton was born on October 23, 1886, in Conway, Arkansas, his father, William, was 32 and his mother, Sarah, was 27. He had two sons and three daughters with Hattie Elizabeth Durham between 1908 and 1928. He died on February 27, 1958, in his hometown at the age of 71.
