When Edgar James Jones was born on June 12, 1918, in Perry, Arkansas, his father, Orville, was 19 and his mother, Armeda, was 23. He married Audrey Marie Standridge on September 12, 1936, in Yell, Arkansas. They had 13 children in 15 years. He died on March 8, 1975, in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 56, and was buried in Gould, Arkansas.
