Maletha Harolene Smith, age 68, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 22, 1940, in Almyra, Ark., a daughter of the late Harold Garrison and Louise Doctor Duncan.

Mrs. Smith was reared and received her education in Dewitt, where she attended the Dewitt schools. She had been a resident of Pine Bluff since 1959.

She was a member of Cannan Baptist Church and the Good Sams Camping Club of Southeast Arkansas. She retired from the Arkansas Department of Corrections in 1999.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by four sister, Mrs. Ann Horton, Geraldine Boykin, Frances Duncan and Lucille Hatfield.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. James R. Smith, who she married July 21, 1955, in Greenville, Miss.; two sons, James Smith of Bentonville, Roy Smith of Dieboll, Texas; two daughters, Debra Mosley of Woodlawn, Sandra Espinoza of Harlingen, Texas; one brother, Leon Duncan and a sister, Mable Griffee, both of Dewitt; four grandsons, four granddaughters and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 16, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Cannan Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cedarcrest Cemetery in Dewitt at 2 p.m. by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

The family will receive friends at Robinson's Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m.

James R. Smith, age 77, of Woodlawn, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was born June 24, 1935, in Hamburg, Arkansas, the son of the late James W. and Myrtis Boykin Smith.

Mr. Smith was reared and educated in Hamburg, where he attended the Hamburg schools.

He served in the U. S. Air Force four years and upon returning from the service, he began working at the Mad Butcher in the Produce Department and later, he began working at the Department of Community Correction for seventeen years, retiring in 1998.

He was a former member and deacon of Pine Crest Missionary Baptist Church and a current member of Cannan Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the Good Sams Club of Southeast Arkansas and the Why Rough It Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maletha Harolene Duncan Smith, whom he married July 21, 1955, in Greenville, Mississippi and a sister, Mrs. Marie Coulter.

Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, James Edward Smith of Anniston, Alabama, Roy Harold Smith of Diboll, Texas; two daughters, Debra Lynn Mosley of Woodlawn and Sandra Espinoza of Harlingen, Texas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 25,, 2013, at 1:30 PM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cedarcrest Cemetery in DeWitt at 4:00 PM.
The Family will receive friends at Robinson's Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
