August 25, 1872 - January 30, 1969
George Hill, 96, 915 W. Grove St., died Thursday afternoon in a local nursing home. Hill, the son of John and Mary Hill, was born Aug. 25, 1872, in Taberville, Mo. He had been a resident of Union County since 1899, and was a retired businessman. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was the oldest member of the church. Survivors include a brother, Frank Hill, Oroville, Calif., four sisters, Mrs. Katherine Giles, Boston, Mass., Mrs. Joe B. Miller, Tyler, Tex., Mrs. Jennie Bryant, Oroville, and Mrs. D. M. Yocum, Sr., El Dorado, and two local nephews, Dr. David M. Yocum and John H. Yocum. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Young's Chapel with the Rev. Gary Jones and Dr. David Sheppardson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Active pallbearers include James W. Garison, Henry Yocum, Jr., Henry Gillam, F. M. Methvin, Jack Barry, and Robert R. Brown. The family will be at 515 N. Washington Ave. (El Dorado Times - January 31, 1969)
