Whit B. Parker, aged 88, of Route Four, died in a local hospital Tuesday at 9 a.m. following a long illness. Mr. Parker was born April 27, 1880 in Union County, the son of Calvin and Emma Medlock Parker. He was a lifelong resident of Union County, a retired merchant and the originator of the Old Hickory Barbeque Sauce popular in this area. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Letha Greer Parker; three sons, Robert Parker of El Dorado, Keith Parker of Baytown, Tex., and Charles Parker of Dennison, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Longing of Magnolia; two stepsons, James H. Greer of El Dorado and Mervyn H. Greer of Huntsville, Tex.; 20 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services have been announced for Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Rumph Mortuary with Rev. Allen Abraham and the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nolan Greer, Jack Allen, Richard Longing, Mike Longing, Mike Honeycut and Earl Goodson. (El Dorado Times - February 11, 1969)
