Ben L. Mason, 86, Rt. 1, El Dorado, died Sunday in a local hospital following a long illness. He was born in Union County, Ark., Jan. 22, 1883, the son of Alfred and Harriett Cottrell Mason. He was a retired farmer and had been a lifelong resident of Union County. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. He is survived by one son, Loy Mason, El Dorado; two daughters, Mrs. Willie Mae Loftin and Mrs. Tiny Hunt, both of El Dorado; 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. D. L. McCauley and the Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - October 27, 1969)
