Mrs. Nellie Jane Mason, 81, of Rt. 1, El Dorado, died Tuesday morning in a local hospital following a short illness. Born Feb. 2, 1887, in Union County, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary Jane Melton Bishop. She was a lifelong resident of the county and a member of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Benjamin Levi Mason of El Dorado; a son, Loy Mason of El Dorado; two daughters, Mrs. Willie Mae Loftin of El Dorado, and Mrs. Tiny Hunt of Junction City; four brothers, John Henry Bishop of Magnolia, Jasper M. Bishop and Jessie Bishop, both of El Dorado, Sam I. Bishop of Port Arthur, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Frank Roberson of El Dorado; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church with the Rev. Lawrence Harberson officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. William T. Dunker and the Rev. T. F. Sanders. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Rumph's Mortuary. Pallbearers will be nephews of Mrs. Mason. They are E. H. Cottrell, W. A. Cottrell, A. D. Cottrell, Darce Bishop, O. E. Bishop and Earl Dean Burns. The body will be taken to the home at 3 p.m. Tuesday. (El Dorado Times - April 30, 1968)
