SPRINGDALE — Philip Dale Mayo of Springdale died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in Springdale. He was born Dec. 29, 1952, in Springdale, Ark.
He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Other accomplishments included inaugural graduate of Leadership Springdale, Springdale Chamber of Commerce board member, chairman of the board of First United Methodist Church, Springdale, chairman of NW Arkansas Business Expo, founder of Felipe's Beer Garden for Feather-Fest, chairman of Feather-Fest for the Springdale Chamber of Commerce, American Heart Association board member, Emerald Waters Condos Destin, Fla., president and board member, Springdale-Fayetteville Elks Lodge Trustees chairman for six years, past president and board member of Park Place Homeowners Association, guest travel writer for the NWA Times and original "Gadfatha" of the SCC Membership Drive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Albert Mayo; and his mother, Muriel Ogden Eldridge.
He is survived by his daughter, Megan Mayo James and her husband, Elliott James, of Fayetteville; his stepfather, Bobby Eldridge of Fayetteville; an aunt, Dorothy White of Springdale, Ark.; his uncle, Ben Mayo of Bentonville, Ark.; his cousins, Jennifer Smith and Carlos J. Mayo of Springdale; and his canine comrade, Bernie.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Springdale, with the Rev. Judy Van House and Audie Long officiating.
Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery at a later date.
The family request memorials be made in honor of Muriel Eldridge to Bread of Life at First United Methodist Church in Springdale.
