OZARK — Vard Carpenter, 86, of Ozark died Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, in Fort Smith. He was born April 14, 1928, in Osco. He was retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department as construction supervisor and was a cattle farmer and Army veteran.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at West Park Baptist Church in Ozark with burial at Belt Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; a daughter, Pamela McCormick of Ozark; a son, Clay Carpenter of Ozark; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tom and Tommy McCormick, Zac and Steve Carpenter and Cole and Shane Adams.

Thelma Jean Carpenter, 83, of Ozark, Arkansas, died Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
She was born April 22, 1922 in the Jethro Community of Franklin County, Arkansas to Robert Boston and Clyda Avert Bernard Hood.

She was a retired employee of Cargill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vard Carpenter; three brothers, Coy, Selmer, and Curtis Hood; and a sister, Velma McLaughlin.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela McCormick, and a son, Clay Carpenter, both of Ozark; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 10 AM Monday, June 15th at West Park Baptist Church in Ozark with Reverend Troy Vaughn and Reverend Ted Darling officiating and burial at Belt Cemetery under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Serving as pallbearers are Tommy McCormick, Zac and Stetson Carpenter, Peyton and Boston Orrick, Cole and Shayne Adams, and Drew and Jake Meador.
