Hoyt Leonard Harmon, 89 , of Altus, Arkansas, died, Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

He was retired and been the owner of Hoyt's General Store and Fruit Stand, former Altus Mayor and worked for the Arkansas Highway Department. He was a member of The Masonic Lodge #383 in Coal Hill, Arkansas, a member of Knights of Pythias and was an Army Veteran.

He was born March 20, 1924 in Hunt, Arkansas to Silas and Rosie Willis Harmon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Donna Leding; one son, Harold McFadden; three brothers, Chester, Coy and Jack Harmon and two sisters, Marie Davidson and Jean Sparks.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Rusty Pearson officiating with burial at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Hunt, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Eula Harmon of Altus; two sons, Tommy Harmon of Altus and Paul McFadden of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two brothers, Roy Harmon of Ozark, Arkansas and Lonnie Harmon of Denning, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren and six great - great grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home 2315 W. Commercial in Ozark.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Nichols, Donnie Buchanan, Gary Eveld, Steven Gierke, Wallace "Bubby" West, Harley Parker and Dusty Freeman. Honorary will be Jack Randall and Aubrey Bowen.


Eula Vesta Harmon, 94, of Altus, Arkansas, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Altus.
She was born February 6, 1921 in Kingston, Madison County, Arkansas to John and Miranda Rogers Crooks.

She was a retired cook for Altus School and was owner of Hoyt’s Fruit Market. She was a member of the Ozark Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Jasper McFadden and second husband Hoyt Harmon; two daughters, Vera McFadden and Donna Leding; and a son Harold McFadden.

She is survived by two sons, Paul McFadden of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Thomas Harmon of Altus.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, Feburary 11, 2015 at the Church of the Nazarene in Ozark, Arkansas, with Brother Rusty Pearson officiating and burial at Liberty Hil Cemetery under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
