Jack Edward Green, 90, of Fayetteville died peacefully Saturday, May 19, 2007.
He was born Nov. 28, 1916, in Stantonville, Tenn., to Delbert and Tavia Dobbins Green.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dollie Ethel. After marrying on Oct. 7, 1939, in Corinth, Miss., the couple moved to Little Rock where they spent most of their married lives.
He was a longtime employee of the Tuf-Nut Manufacturing Co. and worked as a warehouse manager. He was an avid Razorback football fan and usher at War Memorial Stadium for many years.
After moving to Fayetteville to be near his granddaughters, he became a member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church and worked as its building superintendent. He often spoke fondly of the church and its people.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stan Green and Connie of Fayetteville; three granddaughters, Paula Green of Seattle, Wash., Jennifer Green and Deborah Green, both of Fayetteville; a brother, Johnny Green of Southhaven, Miss., and a sister, Lucille Milford of Savannah, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rolling Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Sheeley officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Moore's Chapel, Fayetteville.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
