SPRINGDALE — Sandra Ann Green, 70, of Springdale, Ark., went to be with Jesus Aug. 25, 2018. She was born Sept. 22, 1947, in Heber Springs, Ark., the daughter of the late Leonard and Laverne Harness.
Sandra worked professionally many of her younger years as an executive secretary for Tyson Foods and Harps Food Stores. Up until she retired, she was the church secretary for St. Thomas Episcopal Church for 22 years.
Once retired, she continued working in her community at the polls during election season. She attended New Hope Fellowship in Springdale and was a treasured member of the church serving at the House of Hope. Sandra loved doing for others and spent much of her life ministering in service and volunteerism.
She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, seeing movies with her husband, and especially going to garage sales and resale shops with her cousin Hazel. Nine times out of 10, those purchases were for others, but she got equally as excited about a great deal on a purse or pair of shoes at Dillard's! She was an amazing cook, loving and attentive Nana, fiercely competitive Pitch player, beloved wife and admired mother. Sandra's life was lived out for others and she was always described as sweet by those that knew her. She was cherished and will be missed by many, but most of all by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Green of the home; daughters Kelli Van Ess (Jeff) of Everett, Wash., Kari Mays (Nathan) of Springdale, Ark.; son Jon Green of Springdale, Ark.; her brother, Stanley (Miriam) Harness of Rogers; her sister, Joan Harness of Springdale; five grandchildren, Dallas Van Ess, Ashlynn Mayes, Davis Van Ess, Dalton Van Ess, and Drake Mayes. She was very proud of her grandkids and made each moment she spent with them special.
A celebration of Sandra's life and Godly legacy will be Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Fellowship, 850 S. Gene George Blvd., Springdale, Ark., 72762. Donations may be made in Sandra's name to the House of Hope, P.O. Box 6100, Springdale, Ark., 72766. Arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Ave., Springdale, Ark., 72762. Online condolences may be made to www.memorialfhspringdale.com.
