Rufus Jack Nichols resided in Paris, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at the Paris Health & Rehab Center in Paris.

He was born June 25, 1917 in the Mt Salem Community in Logan County to the late E E Nichols and Mary M Freeman Nichols. He was 92 years old.

Rufus was the Logan County Sheriff from 1972 to 1976. He was a retired self-employed truck driver, coal miner, a "Horseman", was a Master Mason, past Worshipful Master and member of the National Lodge #378 in Paris. He was a deacon and member of the First Baptist Church in Paris.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Reva Nichols, of the home; one daughter, Betty Jean Hearn of Greenwood; one son, Jerry Nichols of Forney, Texas; two sisters, Ethel Richardson of California and Billie Radford of Ohio; one brother, Kenneth Nichols of Carlsbad, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Jeana Sing of Branch, Patty Mickle of Mansfield, and Richard & Kenneth Nichols of Forney, Texas, and nine great grandchilden.

Pall Bearers were Brandon and Cody Sing, Bud Bogan, Richard, Kenneth, and Todd Nichols.

Reva Lavonne Nichols who resided in Paris, Arkansas, had the best birthday celebration ever as she went home to be with the Lord on her birthday Monday, September 6, 2010 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born September 6, 1922 in the Driggs Community in Logan County to the late Sylvester Walker and Verlie Graham Walker. She was 88 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Jack Nichols.

Reva was owner & operator of Reva's Beauty Shop in Paris, was a retired cashier for Wal-Mart in Paris and member of the Paris First Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty Hearn of Greenwood; one son, Jerry Nichols of Forney,Texas; one brother, Jake Walker of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Jeana Sing, Richard Nichols, Patty Mickle, and Kenneth Nichols; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
