Charles "Charlie" Edward Cook October 2, 1944 - April 23, 2017
Charles “Charlie” Cook, 72 of Walnut Ridge, returned to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 23, 2017 following a lengthy illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle, and ultimately gave him peace.
Charlie was born to the late John Franklin Cook and Ethel Mae Hendrickson Cook on October 2, 1944 in Trumann, Arkansas. He graduated from Hoxie High School in 1963.
Charlie was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Cynthia Crum on November 20, 1964 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Charlie and Cindy opened Cook’s Garage and Wrecker Service in 1977 – Celebrating 40 years of service in Lawrence County this year.
Charlie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Cynthia Cook; his mother Ethel Cook of Hoxie; father, John F. Cook of Trumann; brothers, Robert Cook & Jerry Cook both of Hoxie, Bill Cook & Johnny Cook both of Trumann; grandson, Gage Adam Cook of Paragould; and son-in-law Tony Cleveland of Paragould.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Charlotte (Kevin) Smith of Imboden; Crista (Richard) Bowker of Ravenden; and Amy (Scott) Willhite of Jonesboro; sisters, Betty Walker of Walnut Ridge, Mary (Sonny) Craig & Patricia (Elisha) Neece all of Pocahontas, Peggy Hastings of Oxford, MA; brothers, Tom (Roberta) Cook of Bradford, AR and Larry (Janice) Cook of Walnut Ridge; grandchildren, Jared (Lindsey) Brooks of Walnut Ridge, Houston Ball of Paragould, Hailey Woods of Paragould, Payton Willhite & Channing Willhite of Jonesboro; great grandchildren, Seth Brooks, Camden Brooks, & Tucker Brooks all of Walnut Ridge, and Waylon Woods of Paragould.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm at United Freewill Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
Funeral Services will be at United Freewill Baptist Church on Thursday, April 27, 2017 beginning at 11:00am with Brother Glen Smith officiating.
Pallbearers: Tommy Dulaney, Tony Anglin, Delbert Robbins, Brandon Schlueter, B. J. Schlueter, and Josh Bruce. Honorary Pallbearers: Gary Gill, Brad Williams, Allen McIntire, and Billy Killough.
Interment will be in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge & Lynn, Arkansas.
Lasting memorials can be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or the Children’s Shelter in Walnut Ridge.
