G. B. Cathey, 53 of 554 Lakeside Avenue, well known Camden businessman died suddenly Tuesday night in a local hospital. He was born December 12, 1915 at Thornton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Cathey, and was a graduate of Southern State College, and a veteran of World War II. In August, 1964, he and Kenneth Pace purchased Snow Hardware Inc. and at the time of his death, he was president of the organization. Prior to this, he retired from a tenure of thirty years service with Swift and Company where he served as district manager of the Florida territory and at one time was branch manager of the company at Shreveport, La. Mr. Cathey was an active member of the United Methodist Church and the Camden Lions Club. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Deweese Reed Cathey; two daughters, Mrs. Gary Tilghmor of Camden and Mrs. Alice Cathey, student at the University of Arkansas; his mother, Mrs. F. C. Cathey of Elliott' two sisters, Mrs. Ed Pace and Mrs. Loy Cross both of Camden. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with burial in Liberty Cemetery. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (Camden News - March 26, 1969)
