John Walter Sanders, Sr., 90, died at noon Thursday in Houston, Tex. Born August 6, 1876, in Dawson, Ga., he came to El Dorado in 1909 and built the El Dorado Foundry and Machine Co., serving as its president and general manager until 1916. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. M. F. Lewis of Camden, Mrs. Grace Latimer of Downey, Calif., and Mrs. Ruth Davis of Houston; one son, J. W. Sanders, Jr. of El Dorado; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Proctor Funeral Home of Camden with Rev. H. R. Nabors, minister of the Camden First Methodist Church. officiating. Burial will follow in Camden Memorial Cemetery. (The El Dorado Times August 19, 1966)
