Jimmy Dewayne Martin son of Wayne L. Martin and Virginia (Johnson) Martin.


Jimmy Dewayne Martin, son of the late Wayne L. Martin and Virginia Johnson Martin, was born March 18, 1945 in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas. He departed this life July 27, 2016 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 9 days.

He spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, provider and friend. During his working years, he worked in construction as a concrete engineer. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two children: Andrew P. Martin and wife Latrica of Norman, Oklahoma and Mary Earlene Martin and husband Derek Hall of Midwest City, Oklahoma; two brothers: Ernest W. Martin of Mt. Pleasant and Victor R. Martin and wife Jennifer of Ft. Meyers, Florida; two sisters: Betty Ferguson of Mt. Pleasant and Kathryn Moser and husband Travis of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren: Cadense Hall and Leona Louise Hall and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Royce D. Baird and Patsy Dearing.

Funeral service will be Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Howard Memorial Funeral Chapel in Melbourne with Billy Brooks officiating.

Burial will be at Barren Fork Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 169, Mt. Pleasant, AR 72561.

Pallbearers: Dustin Wiles, Allen Martin, Andy Cuellar, Tyler Ramm, Stacy Ramm, Steve Johnson

Honorary Pallbearers: Derek Hall, Connie Johnson, Bill Dearing.
