Mrs. Peggy J. Hughes, 85 of Gassville passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 in Mountain Home. She was born March 9, 1931 in Cotter to Homer Lee Queen and Emma Lee Taylor Queen. She married J.W. Hughes in 1947.
She attended the Assembly of God Church in Cotter. Mrs. Hughes was a talented musician who played both guitar and piano. In her younger days she sang in a group with her sisters. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and kept up with her family and friends on Facebook.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Charles) Smith of Gassville; a son, Dennis (Rita) Hughes of Gassville; 8 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Geneva Sinor of Buffalo City, and Bonnie Spangler of Covena, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband J.W. Hughes in 1997; a son Tony Lee Hughes in 1952.; 3 brothers and 4 sisters
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Sunday March 20, 2016 at Roller Funeral Home. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Dr. Sam Bailey will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2016 at Roller Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Cotter. Pallbearers will be Todd Bradbury, Donnie Wallace, Kevin Smith, Aaron Hughes, Ben Bailey and Justin Moore. Honorary pallbearer: Tony Flippin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
