FAYETTEVILLE — Lonnie Cowan, 75, of Fayetteville died Jan. 1, 2008, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born April 30, 1932, in Jethro to Virgil and Frances Perry Cowan.

He married Leona Belt, on Dec. 15, 1951. They lived in Texas for several years before returning to Arkansas where he worked at various service stations in Springdale and Tontitown, including 18 years with Dandy Oil's Spot-Not Carwash. His pastime was the CB radio.

Survivors include his wife, Leona Cowan of the home; three children, Virgil Cowan and wife Robin of Greenfield, Tenn., Mattie Carol Cowan of Leesville, La., Betty S. Traxler and husband Norman of Elkins; two sisters, Bonnie Parrish of Greenwood, Louise Belt of Jethro; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale with the Rev. Rex Griffin officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

WHITE OAK COMMUNITY — Leona Cowan, 77, of the White Oak Community died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at her home. She was born April 16, 1936, in Ozark to Roy and Mattie Nichols Belt.

Leona enjoyed feeding family and friends and seeing to needs of others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Cowan in 2008.

She is survived by three children, Virgil Cowan of Greenfield, Tenn., Mattie Carol Cowan of Fayetteville, Betty Traxler of Elkins; four brothers, Billy Belt of Fayetteville, her twin, Leroy Belt of Fayetteville, Larry Belt of Lowell, Lester Belt of Ozark; two sisters, Dolly Green of Jones, Okla., Betty Lessley of Poteau, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will be at White Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
