ANNANDALE, Va. — Thomas "Tommy" Ray Elder, 73, of Annandale, Va., formerly of Rogers, Ark., died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at his home. He was born April 6, 1937, in California, the son of Joe I. Elder and Marjorie Elder.

He enjoyed time outdoors and spending quality time with his grandchildren and assisting his friends with many different projects. He was a graduate of Rogers High School. He was a lifetime resident of the Northwest Arkansas area.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Loraine Elder, of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Elder and his wife, Char, of Fayetteville, Ark., Kenneth Elder and his wife, Kristi, of Rogers, Ark,; one daughter, Amy Small and her husband, Justin, of Annandale, Va.; one brother, John Elder and his wife, Carol of Rogers, Ark.; one sister, Joanna Baker of Garden City, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Rogers, Ark.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Rogers, Ark., with Dr. Tom Hatley officiating. Interment will follow at Tucks Chapel Cemetery in Rogers, Ark. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Elder, Kenneth Elder, Justin Small, Joseph Elder, Cameron Elder, Brandon Elder, Jim Sexson and Bradley Sexson.

Memorials may be sent to Capital Baptist Church to the Children's Ministry in Annandale, Va. All funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Epting Funeral Home in Bentonville, Ark. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.eptingfuneralhome.webs.com.
