ELDER, Thomas Calloway - Thomas Calloway Elder, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Elder, died at an early hour Monday morning at the home of his parents at 211 South Fifth St. at the age of 20 years, 5 months and 22 days. Death was the result of typhoid fever although there were complications that made his illness a serious one from the very first. He had been sick about three weeks. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock and were conducted by Rev. J.F. Little and W.S. Long. A large number of friends of the young man and of the family were present. The deceased was one of the best known young men of the city and had been working for his father in the J.S. Elder Grocery Co. He was born near Jonesboro, Ark. and came here with his parents several years ago. He was a popular young fellow and had many friends. His death is a great blow to the family and they have the sympathy of all.
