BELLA VISTA - Russell Duane Thompson, 64, of Bella Vista died Nov. 17, 2000, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Feb. 26, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa, to John Kenner and Ina Grace White Thompson. He and his wife moved to Bella Vista two years ago from Rochester, N.Y. He was a member of the Bella Vista First United Methodist Church, where he held several positions and was a member of the United Methodist Men's Club. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America in Dubuque, Iowa, and had received the Silver Beaver award. He worked for John Deere Co. for 25 years and for companies in Rockford, Ill., and Le Roy, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn Ella Thompson of Bella Vista; two sons, Lance Russell Thompson of West Chicago, Ill., and Drew Douglas Thompson of Woodley, England; five brothers, John Kenner Thompson of St. Paul, Minn., Robert Samuel Thompson of Jesup, Iowa, Donald Clifton Thompson of Charles City, Iowa, Gordon Lester Thompson of Mason City, Iowa, and Douglas Keith Thompson of Berea, Ohio, two sisters, Dorothy Mae Ward and Virginia Elizabeth Thompson, both of Charles City; five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Larry Williams and the Rev. Thomas Stone officiating. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista, 72714
