SPRINGDALE — Virgil Walter Jackson, 84, of Springdale died Nov. 19, 1995, at his home. He was born Oct. 23, 1911, at Madison, Ill., to Andrew and Anna Howard Jackson. He was a past governor and an active member of Springdale Moose Lodge. He was a past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge and was a local businessman and farmer. A Methodist, he was an elected constable and justice of the peace. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deatrice Jackson, on March 28, 1993.
Survivors include three sons, Virgil Jackson Jr. of Taluca Lake, Calif., Jim Carl Jackson of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Delmar Ray Jackson of Fayetteville; one daughter, Anna Jean Nelson of Springdale; one sister, Florence Parker of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale, with the Rev. Raymond Earl Baker officiating. Burial will be in Sonora Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harral Turner, Merle Atha, Roy Harmon, Irvin Skansen, George Steen and Robert Leahy.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
