Kenith Lee Gillihan

Kenith Lee Gillihan of Melbourne, AR, son of the late Arkus Eler Zar Gillihan and Alice Janie Neal Gillihan, was born January 5, 1925 in Twin Creek, AR. He departed this life on October 23, 2005 in Batesville, at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 18 days. He was united in marriage to Jimmy Thompson on March 25, 1948 in Jumbo, AR, and to this union four children were born.

During his working years, Kenith did many things. He was a logger, a heavy equipment operator and he worked with the railroad. He was employed by the McDonnell Douglas Aircraft factory, retiring on January 29, 1993 at age 68. He was also a cattle farmer. Kenith enjoyed playing the fiddle and playing music with local musicians. He was a member of the Twin Creek Church of Christ.

Kenith leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 57 years, Jimmy Gillihan of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, David Gillihan of Melbourne, Phillip and Diann Gillihan of Melbourne, and Mike and Debbie Gillihan of Magness, AR; one daughter, Regina Gillihan of Melbourne; one brother, Jeffie Gillihan of Melbourne; nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Wayne Hutson, Keith Gillihan, Daniel Gillihan, Lori Doyle, Shay Carter, Nicole Gillihan, Amanda Gillihan, Kyle Gillihan and Brandon Gillihan; six step great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

His parents; two brothers, Rusaw and Oris Gillihan; one sister, Elzora Brown, and infant twin sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, October 26 at 10 a.m. at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Eric Williamson and Donald Gillihan officiating.

Burial was in Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation was Tuesday, October 25 from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers were Keith Gillihan, Ernie Gillihan, Wayne Hutson, and Mark Herrington. Honorary pallbearers were Kyle Gillihan, Brandon Gillihan, George Gillihan, Boyce Gillihan, Shelby Gillihan, Junior Gillihan, Dennis Gillihan, Spurge Lawson, Mervin Elliott and Jim Myrick.

Jimmy Rhea Thompson Gillihan, daughter of the late Burley Thompson and Katherine Gillihan Thompson, was born September 12, 1931 in Guion, Arkansas. She departed this life July 2, 2020 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 20 days.

She was united in marriage to Kenith Gillihan March 25, 1948 in Jumbo, Arkansas and together they raised four children. Jimmy spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. During her working years, she was employed by Baxter Lab in Mountain Home, retiring after fifteen years of employment. Jimmy also worked as an in home caretaker. She was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of Twin Creek Church of Christ.

She is survived by three sons: David Gillihan, Phillip Gillihan and wife Diann and Mike Gillihan; one daughter: Regenia Gillihan all of Melbourne; two sisters: Delma McCollum (Loye) and Melba Treat (Don) all of Melbourne; six grandchildren: Keith Gillihan and Danial Gillihan both of Casper, Wyoming, Brandon Gillihan of Melbourne, Wayne Hutson of Violet Hill, Amanda Gillihan of Melbourne and Kyle Gillihan of Melbourne; two great granddaughters: Cherysh Rone of North Carolina and Kate Gillihan of Casper, Wyoming and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister: Helen Gillihan; four brothers: Burl Thompson, Eldon Thompson, Larry Thompson and Rayburn Thompson.

Visitation and funeral service will be Monday, July 6 at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Tim Woolridge officiating.

Burial will be at Combs Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Kyle Gillihan, Wayne Hutson, Brandon Gillihan, Danial Gillihan, Alan Love and Greg McCollum.

Honorary Pallbearers: Jeff Gillihan, Ernie Gillihan, Roger Gillihan, Dennis Gillihan and Keith Gillihan .
