Alice K. Barnes, 73, of Garfield died Feb. 24, 2005, at her home. She was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Kingman
County, Kan., to Anthony J. and Marie Terwort Schmitz. She moved to Springdale in 1965 and worked for Harps General Office for 33 years.
She was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling, gardening, photography, playing the piano and accordion and was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Justin Schmitz and one son, Floyd Gage.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Barnes of the home, to whom she was married Dec. 8, 1979; three daughters, Carol Gage and Pat Wolfe and husband McAllen, all of Springdale, and Rosella Cleaver of Fayetteville; five sisters, Virginia Krugloff of Claremore, Okla., Marilyn Hurst and husband Gary of Billings, Okla., Roberta Meyer and husband Art of Ponca City, Okla., Bernetta Griffin and husband Jim of Springdale and Marlene Hatcher and husband Gene of Lowell; two brothers, Gerald Schmitz and wife Sharon of Nixa, Mo., and Ron Schmitz and wife Cheri of Booneville, Mo.; two grandsons, Aaron Wolfe of Springdale and Homer Head III of California; two granddaughters, Sara Wolfe of Centerton and Lisa Bolten of Pensacola, Fla.; 19 nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27 at Sisco Chapel in Springdale and Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springdale with the Rev. Milton R. Lange, celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Tontitown.
Pallbearers will be Don Harp, Gerald Harp, Gregg Harp, Phillip Harp, Randall Harp and Roger Collins.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
