Died near Fayetteville, Ark on February 28th, 1882, Mrs. Rebecca Barnes, aged 45 years and 1 month. She was born in Clay county, Indiana January 18th, 1837 and at the age of 22 was married to Wesley M. Barnes who still survives her. About one year after marriage she professed conversion and was baptized into the fellowship of the Baptist Church at Friendly Grove, Clay county, Indiana where her membership ever remained. In 1859 she visited Dallas, Texas with her husband and during a stay of five years there on the border she ever let her christian light shine resplendently, being often heard praying aloud for her husband who was then away in the C.S. Army. In 1866 she and her husband came to Fayetteville, Washington county, Ark. where she now sleeps in the city's bivouac of the dead. For eight months before her death her health was poor.
