Slave Cemetery Cemetery
Pope County,
Arkansas

From the junction of highway 333 in London, turn south on 333 for .1 mile to the junction of Pine Street. Go straight on Pine Street for .2 mile to the junction of McDonald Boulevard. Turn right on McDonald and go .3 mile. Cemetery was on the right.

This was apparently on land homesteaded by Isaac Haddox on May 1, 1860. He was born about 1820 in Blount County, Tennessee and married Matilda Ann (?) before coming to Arkansas. The town of London was originally called Haddoxburg until about 1877.

Isaac Haddox is said to have brought a large number of slaves with him on his journey to London, Arkansas. If there are any slaves buried here, there is no sign of any markers. There is one small stone crypt with the name of one of Isaac and Matlida's grandsons.
