Emerson A. Black, 86, of Heber, Calif., formerly of Roseville, died April 23, 2006, in San Diego, Calif. He was a veteran of World War II and a trucker. He was born Jan. 16, 1920, in Roseville to Charley and Romie (Webb) Black. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Christine Black; two sisters, Nina Bennett, Juanita Evans; and a brother, Jack Black.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Roller Chapel in Paris with burial at Carpenter Cemetery in Roseville under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris. To sign an online guest book, go to www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.
He is survived by three sons, Dennis Black of Roseville, Dempsey Black of Heber, Calif., and Tommy Black of Georgia; one sister, Tincie Dexter of Subiaco; two brothers, Bud Black of Ozark and Melvin Black of California; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Dempsey Black, Dennis Black, Tom Black, Robert Black, James Graham and Paul Fitzjurls.

Velma Christine (Fox) Black, 82, of Roseville died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, in Roseville. She was born in Driggs, was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Bessie (Streat) Fox; and two sons, Michael Glen Black and Travis Lee Black. Funeral service will be at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris at 10 a.m. Wednesday with burial at Carpenter Cemetery in Roseville north of Caulksville off Arkansas 288 south under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris. She is survived by her husband, E.A. (Demp.) Black; three sons, Dempsey Black of Heber, Calif., Dennis Black of Roseville, and Tom Black of Hinesville, Ga.; two sisters, Marine Sullivan of Virginia Beach, Va., and Margie Kirchner of New Blaine; four brothers, Damon Fox of Ratcliff, T.J. Fox of Sun City, Ariz., Wayne Fox of Seattle, and Chester Fox of Ardmore, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Bob Black, Dempsey Black, Tom Black, Chester Fox, Paul Fitzjurls and James Graham. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Times Record Online
