James Bryan Boatenhammer of Lakeland, FL, was a native of Lynn, AR, the son of Clay Caleb and Leora Florence Harris Boatenhammer.

He was a World War II Army veteran and was awarded five Bronze Stars.

He had lived in Florida for several years before returning to Lynn and to Jonesboro, then returned to Lakeland. He was a member of the Church of Christ. James received bachelor's and master's degrees from Arkansas State College. A career education administrator, he was a former superintendent of Lynn Public Schools.

He was preceded in death by a son, Larry; and a sister, Coy Boatenhammer Bristow.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Perrin Boatenhammer whom he married on 01 Dec 1943; a daughter, Linda Troupe, Lakeland; a son, Jim Boatenhammer, Lakeland; two sisters, Inez Penn, Walnut Ridge, and Wanda Baker, St. Louis; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Lynn Church of Christ with Kenny Tinsley officaiting.

Burial, with military honors, was in Dry Creek Cemetery. (Abstracted from the December 19, 2007, edition of The Times Dispatch newspaper.)
