Mrs. Darlene Thrasher
Darlene Thrasher, age 83 of Elizabeth, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 in Mountain Home. Mrs. Thrasher was born September 16, 1930 in Cumi, Arkansas to Everett and Bertha (Walker) Uchtman. She married William Jean Thrasher in Viola, Arkansas on July 23, 1947. She lived for 19 years in Cahokia, Illinois, and returned to the area in 1971. She worked as an LPN at St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis, Illinois for 18 years, and was the owner/operator of Darlene's Beauty Shop for over 20 years. She was a member of the Oak Valley Baptist Church of Hand Cove, and enjoyed making crafts, volunteer work for her church, and outings with her friends from the grief support group.
Darlene Thrasher is survived by a son Larry (Brenda) Thrasher of Barnesville, Georgia, daughters Sharon (Vince) Maranto of Elizabeth, Carol (David McDaniel) Cuff of Jasonville, Indiana, and Brenda (Leabert) Parker of Elizabeth, grandchildren Shannon (John) Byrne, Ashley (Bill) Searcy, Cristina (Ralph) Maranto, Vincent (Morgan) Maranto, Stephanie (John) Leckert, Lisa Browning, Robyn (Jay) Forbes, Cynthia (Shane) Ferguson, Billy (Melissa) Parker, 18 great grandchildren, a sister Marvene Copeland of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, a brother Billy Don (Mary) Uchtman of West Plains, Missouri, and a sister in law Sue Deatherage of Viola, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson Aaron Gist, a granddaughter Sarah Leigh Simmons, 6 brothers and a sister.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 1, 2014 from Noon until 9:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Custer Herron Cemetery in Henderson. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or the American Heart Association.
