BENTONVILLE — Jewell Maxine Bookout, 88, of BentonviIle, passed away May 13, 2010. She was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Pilgrims Rest, Ark., to the late Fred A. Smith and Minnie Ellen Whittle Smith.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God. She enjoyed reading and quilting,

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie, in 1999; son, John; and five brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Harold Bookout and his wife, Cathy, of Highfill, and Melvin Bookout and his wife, Carolyn, of Yellville; three sisters, Marilyn Hale of Sprinpdale, Sherry Stevens of Elm Springs, and Lois Misner of Kansas; and one brother, Joe Smith, of Springdale. She is also survived by grandchildren, Patricia Morris, John Bookout, Charlie Bookout, Christine Maloney, Beverly Clark and Timothy Bookout; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at Rollins Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Rollins Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Ring and the Rev. Melvin Bookout officiating.

Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.

Memorials may be made to Garden on the Terrace Recreation Fund, 3317 S.E. L St., Bentonville, AR 72712.
