Funerals Conducted Friday for Five Persons Killed in Storm
Funeral services for five of the nine persons killed in Tuesday night's tornado in the Brightwater-Garfield area were held Friday afternoon, services for three more will be held Saturday, and funeral arrangements for the ninth victim had not been completed today.
Services for Mr. and Mrs. Arch Blansett and their eight-year-old grandson, Paul J. Blansett, were held at the Callison chapel at 2:30 Friday afternoon by the Rev. Rel Gray and the Rev. C. R. Nance.
Double services for Albert Cline and his ten-year-old nephew, Jimmy Morrison, of the Garfield area were held at the Reddick church, near Garfield, at 2:30 Friday afternoon, and burial was in the Reddick cemetery under direction of the Weimer-Miller Funeral Home at Garfield.
Mr. Cline was killed instantly when his home was demolished, and the Morrison boy died of his injuries in the Rogers hospital several hours after the storm.
Funeral arrangements for Mrs. John L. Hays had not been completed Friday afternoon.
Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Joe Williamson will be held at the Providence church Saturday afternoon at 2:30 instead of Sunday as erroneously announced. Burial will be in the Snoderly cemetery under direction of the Callison Funeral Home.
Services for Orville Springer, 53, killed when his home at Brightwater collapsed, will be held at the Callison chapel at 10 a. m., Saturday, with the Rev. C. R. Nance officiating. Burial will be in the Buttram chapel cemetery with the Callison Funeral Home in charge.
Masonic burial services will be conducted at the cemetery by the Pea Ridge Lodge No. 119, F. & A. M., of which Mr. Springer was a member.
Mr. Springer was born in Benton county September 21, 1893. He was the son of Homer and Ester Dart Springer.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Era Howell Springer, who was injured in the storm, two brothers, A. B. Springer, Dora, N. Mex., and Clyde Springer, Rogers, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Felton, Salina, Kan.
