Steward Franklin Chitwood, 60 years old, of Dyer, Arkansas died Wednesday, August 9, 1967 in an Oklahoma City hospital. Born February 14, 1907 at Dyer, Arkansas, Mr. Chitwood was the son of the late Lee Chitwood and Mrs. Bess Wilson Chitwood who survives him. He attended the Assembly of God church and was a construction worker.
Survivors were his wife, Mrs. Lyndale Chitwood; a son, Jerry Chitwood of Oklahoma City; his mother, Mrs. Bess Wilson Chitwood of Dyer; two brothers, Claud Chitwood of Sallis, Mississippi, and Morgan Chitwood of Dyer; a sister, Mrs. Richard Land of Raytown, Missouri; and two grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Friday at 2 p.m. at Dyer Assembly of God church with J. S. Edwards officiating, assisted by Lester Nye. Burial was in Dyer cemetery and was directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Casket bearers were, Clay Cottrell, Joe Chitwood, Vester Belt, Duman Wilson, Frankie Rhodes and Earl Morse.
Honorary pallbearers were, Ellis Kinsey, Olen Selby, George Weese, Ad Henson, Clyde King, Roe Cottrell and Leslie Morse.
