Dovie Simmons, 105, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away August 15, 2013 in Mountain View, Arkansas. Dovie was born on May 23, 1908 in Meadow Creek, Arkansas to Phillip and Dora (Gilbert) Moody. Dovie was a charter member of the Angora Baptist Church in Angora Community, Arkansas. She was married to Roy Simmons for over 60 years and spent most of her life in Angora Community.
Dovie is survived by one son, Velorn Simmons of Pittsburg, Missouri; one daughter, Anna Marie Johnson of Mountain View, Arkansas; one brother-in-law, Herschel Simmons of Leslie, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Carrie Moore, Mike Simmons, Dr. Paul Wilson, Gayland Glenn Simmons, Gayla (Sissy) Simmons, and Norman Simmons; four great-grandchildren, Anthony Wilson, Josh Simmons, Mitchell Moore, and Erin Simmons as well as three great-great grandchildren, Kathlyn Moore, Victoria Moore, and Valery Moore.
Dovie was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Dora (Gilbert) Moody; her husband for over 60 years, Roy Simmons; one son, Gayland Brian Simmons; one brother, Dalton Moody, and a baby sister.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2013, from 1-2PM at Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. The funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00PM, also at Roller Coffman Chapel. Brother Junior Barham is officiating. Interment will take place at Angora Cemetery near Oxley, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Mark Simmons, Steve Simmons, Mike Simmons, Gayland Simmons, Danny Simmons, and JC Bonds.
