LAWTON, Phoebe - Died, Aug. 28, 1893 at the residence of her brother, Judge I.B. Lawton, Phoebe Lawton, aged 65. The severe illness to which the deceased succumbed lasted three weeks, during which time she bore the sufferings of disease with the patience and fortitude born of the true christian spirit that she possessed, having been an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church since her youth. Miss Lawton was born in Ohio but for a number of years has made her home at the residence of her brothers near Bentonville. Those who were numbered among her friends can testify to her noble christian character and the irreparable loss occasioned by her demise. In this hour of affliction the Democrat extends sorrow and sympathy to the relatives and friends.
