Man Dies From Meth Lab Explosion

Terry Dean Wilkerson, 51, died Wednesday from burn injuries suffered in a methamphetamine lab explosion, officials said Thursday.

Investigators from the Benton County Sheriff's Office were called Sept. 9 to a report of a possible meth lab explosion at 3234 Blue Hill Road in Rogers.

An investigation confirmed the explosion was caused by a meth lab, according to a news release from the Benton County Sheriffs Office.

Wilkerson was taken by air ambulance to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo., where he was treated for burns over 90 percent of his body, hospital officials told investigators.

ROGERS— Terry Dean Wilkerson, 51, of Rogers, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was born April 10, 1960, in Bentonville.

He enjoyed playing pool, reading, being outdoors and especially, spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Troy Wilkerson; and grandson, Walter Lee Fenton.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Jones and husband, Billy, of Garfield; son, Joseph Anthony Wilkerson of Bentonville; two daughters, Rebecca Lee Fenton and husband, Benjamin, of Salinas, Calif., and Terrie Sue Meppen and husband, Andrew, of Bentonville; brother. Cliff Wilkerson of Pea Ridge; sister, Shelly Webb and husband, Mike, of Pea Ridge. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Marie Anna-Beth Wilkerson, Theodore Roger Meppen, Margaret Isabella Fenton and William Anthony Fenton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at Eagle Heights Baptist Church in Bentonville, with Pastor Doug Leahman officiating.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Hospital Burn Center, c/o Epting Funeral Home, 709 N. Walton Blvd., Bentonville, AR 72712.
