PITTSBURG, Texas - Larry Maxwell Lyon, 66, of Pittsburg, Texas, died Sept. 27, 2011, at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He was born Nov. 8, 1944, in Rogers, Ark., to Everette and Callie Lyon.

He attended Rogers High School and the University of Arkansas. He also served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pittsburg and retired from Pilgrim's Pride Inc.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Loyd Lyon; and sister, Lois Dailey.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy L. Lyon; a son, Richard Aaron Lyon of Florida; two daughters, Tamra Jewel and Lance Ogle of Rogers and Tracy and Alan Hollinshead of Syracuse, Utah; seven grandchildren, Matthew Cox, Seth Ogle, Lacye May, Austin Hollinshead, Ashlyne Ogle, Luke Ogle, Maxwell Hollinshead; two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Cox and Brody Cox.

Visitation was held Sept. 29 at Erman Smith Funeral Home in Pittsburg.

Pallbearers are Matthew Cox, Austin Hollinshead, Maxwell Hollinshead. Seth Ogle, Luke Ogle, Lance Ogle and Alan Hollinshead. Honorary pallbearers are Bo Pilgrim, Dr. James Miner, Pat Pilgrim, Rick Cogdill, Gary Smith, Cliff Butler, Bobby Matkin, Cary Brown, Bob Hendrix, Harry Weed and Sammy Duncan.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Pittsburg with Bro. Steve Packer officiating.

Interment will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 1 at Rogers Cemetery in Rogers, Ark.

Memorial may be made to Gideons International or American Cancer Society.
