KIRKPATRICK, George Kossuth - (from The Paris Texas News) Died suddenly at Eureka Springs, Ark. August 10, George Kossuth Kirkpatrick in the sixty-sixth year of his life. He was born near Lafayette, Ind. but spent the greater part of his life in Texas and filled for years a position of trust in the federal court in this city. "Koss" Kirkpatrick, as he was called by his friends, had been a patient sufferer through many years of invalidism. He was a man of gentle disposition; his life was a daily illustration of the Proverb, "A soft answer turneth away wrath." His thoughts of his fellowman were always kind, his idea seemed to be, "If you can't say anything good of a man, say nothing." He was never married and is survived by three brothers, N.P. Kirkpatrick, with whom he made his home in Rogers, Ark., C.S. and H.O. Kirkpatrick of Galveston. ***** It was a decided shock to the friends of Mr. Kirkpatrick when the news of his sudden death was learned by telephone. He died at the Thatch Cottage at Eureka Springs and was found dead in bed by the employees when he failed to rise at the accustomed hour. The body was brought to Rogers for burial and funeral services were held at Bryant's parlors Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E.M. Dugger of the M.E. church. Mr. Kirkpatrick had been coming to Rogers for twenty years and divided his time between this place, Eureka Springs and Paris, Texas. He was such a quiet, unassuming man that he did not have as large a circle of acquaintances as might have been expected but all who knew him respected him and admired his many excellent qualities. Many who have seen him strolling around town or down at the springs, did not know him by name but they will miss his gentle presence. The Democrat editors had known him for twenty years and will greatly regret his passing for he was always courteous and cheerful, two virtues that are all too scarce in this busy and pessimistic world.
