Mrs. James Day, a resident on Pea Ridge for over 40 years, committed suicide Tuesday evening by drinking concentrated lye. She died in agony but unconscious a few hours later. Despondency and worry over family matters is said to have been the cause of her death. She is reported as to have been brooding over her troubles for some time and early Tuesday emptied a can of concentrated lye into a glass of water and drank it, so it is stated. She was about 60 years old. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Clyde Day, professional baseball pitcher, and Claude Day; also by two daughters, Mrs. Perry and Miss Pebble Day.
