Nathan B. Holland was born near Atlanta, Ga. in 1856, moving with his parents, Lee and Mary Holland, to near Springtown when a 12-year-old boy. He died at his home in Siloam Springs April 16th, 1927. He is survived by his wife and five children: Mrs. Nettie Goode, Oswego, Kansas; Mrs. Sarah Downum, Los Angeles, Calif.; Joe Holland, Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. E.C. King and Al Holland, Siloam Springs, who were present at the funeral which was held from the Methodist Church at Siloam Springs followed by interment in Oak Hill cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. A.L. Cline, pastor, assisted by Rev. Bates Sturdy. Pyeattes directed the funeral. Mr. Holland was a member of one of the old and highly respected families of this section, having spent practically all of his life in the Springtown community, always living an honest, conscientious and Christian life. Quiet and not wishing to make any outward show of his goodness, but he was always busy trying to help someone in sorrow or guide them to the better world. Everyone was his friend and his old neighbors and associates are saddened at his going. He was a faithful member of the Methodist Church and lived his religion every day. It can be said that he was a truly good Christian and a good citizen.
