PUTMAN, Wm. T. - Wm. T. Putman, the seventeen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Putman of Rock Island, Texas, was killed last Saturday night at a siding near Bay City, Texas. The body arrived here Monday night on the Cannon Ball and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist church, being conducted by Rev. Holloway. The body was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Putman. Young Putman was braking on the Cane Belt railroad. While this train was switching on the siding mentioned above he was by some unknown manner thrown under the cars and was instantly killed, his head and shoulder being severed from the body. Putman was raised in Rogers, going to Rock Island with his parents about five years ago. The family has many relatives in this end of Benton county and the sad death is a shock to them. It will be remembered that George Putman, an older brother of the deceased, died here suddenly about five years ago.

PUTMAN, George H. - News reached here early Wednesday morning that George Putman had been found dead in his bed at Rogers. Coroner Corley repaired to the scene and summoning a jury held an inquest which resulted in a verdict of death from heart failure. The deceased was a partner in a restaurant business in Rogers and had gone to bed about 10 o'clock Tuesday night in as good health as usual, though he had for a few days been complaining of a slight indisposition. He was found by his partner and from every indication had passed away while asleep. Mr. Putman was about 25 years old, was reared in this county and was widely and favorably known. His father, who lives in Texas, was apprised of the sad death of his son and he telegraphed to keep the remains until he could arrive, which will be this afternoon, and the funeral will take place tomorrow. Deceased was a cousin of our fellow townsman, J.K. Putman.
