RICE, Dorendo PUCKETT - Mrs. Rice, wife of Dr. R.S. Rice, died this morning at 9:15 o'clock at her home on South Second street. Mrs. Rice's death was the result of typhoid fever and she had been ill about three weeks. Her condition was considered dangerous from the start and she has been so low for the past two weeks that her death has been almost hourly expected. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock at the Baptist church and will be under the auspices of the local order of the Eastern Star of which she has been a leading member for a number of years. Rev. Holloway, assisted by Rev. Johnsey, will conduct the services. By the death of Mrs. Rice, Rogers loses one of its best known women. As an assistant in the post office under her brother, J.W. Puckett, she widely extended her circle of friends and acquaintances. She had lived here all her life. Mrs. Rice was an earnest worker in the Baptist church and lived a consistent Christian life. Dorendo Puckett was born July 20, 1866 at the old Puckett home, five miles east of Rogers. She was married Dec. 15, 1887 to Dr. R.S. Rice of this city and to them were born two daughters, Misses Pearl and Grace. She leaves the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Carroll, Mrs. Ed Sager, Mrs. Rolla Rice, Sallie and Kate Puckett; John W. Puckett, Joe C. Puckett and Hugh Puckett. The Democrat extends sympathy to the bereaved husband and daughters.
