Ida
September 23,1883 - May 27,1968
Daughter of John Casel Hayes & Christena "Teney" Elizabeth Haynes Hayes, born in Tabor, Tennessee. Ida and Lon Jackson had ten children: Reba, Thomas William Jr., Juliett, Madge, Leota, Lon Hayes, Lila Annis, Ruth, John Paul, and Inez. They made their home in the Sebastian community of Maness until they were removed for the establishment of Camp Chaffee. Their old homeplace is now the location of the Janet Huckabee Nature Center. After Lons death, Ida lived in the Barling Arkansas home of her daughter, Leota.
He and his family lived in the community of Maness but relocated to the Barling area after their home place (inherited from wife's parents) was taken to establish Fort Chaffee. The Janet Huckabee Nature Center now sits on land that was formerly theirs.

In Lon Jackson's early years, he farmed growing cotton and a variety of garden vegetables and owned and operated a cotton gin in downtown Barling with his brother Jim. He was a generous man and took great pleasure in sharing his produce with neighbors and extended family. Later on, he was a surveyor and a member of a surveying party that mappled the plains in far western Indian Territory. He eventually became a road and highway construction foreman, helping establish what is now known as U.S. Highway 71. He was well-educated, an avid reader, and a biblical scholar.
Ida, husband and all of her children, with the exception of Inez and Leota, are buried at Steep Hill Cemetery in Sebastian County, Arkansas.
