Curtis "Coon" Harton, age 79, of Warren, Ark. died Thursday, June 9, at BCMC. He was born November 9, 1931 in Bradley County, Arkansas, a son of the late Will J. Harton and Bessie Lee Rawls Harton. He was a deacon and founding member of Fairview Freewill Baptist Church, a cattle rancher and a retired millwright for Potlatch Corp. He married Ilene Brown Harton on June 23, 1951 and she died December 15, 2010. Surviving are 2 sons, Mike "Luke" Harton and wife Kim and Ronny Harton all of Warren, Ark; 3 brothers Jimmy Wayne Harton, James Wesley Harton and Renious Harton all of Warren, Ark; a godchild Tina Dorrough Reep, Warren, Ark; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Estelle Thomason, 4 brothers, Billy Harton, Leroy Harton, Herman "Pot" Harton and Floyd Harton and a sister, Arbelle French. Funeral services were 2:00pm Sunday, June 12, at Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Victor Hunter and Rev. Brian Ashcraft officiating. Music was provided by Tracy Nichols and Monica Harton Nichols. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Doug Harton, Terry Harton, Gary Ashcraft, Steve Ashcraft, Farron Mercer, Mark Burt, James Kitchens and Billy P. Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Earnest, Vernon Rawls, Frank Burt, Van Brown, Jackie Harton, William Ray Collier, Paul Harton, Eddie Lewis, Dr. Kerry Pennington and office staff, Wagnon Place Staff and members of Fairview Freewill Baptist Church. Memorials preferred to the Gideon's or American Cancer Society.
