OXFORD — Claud Fisher Moss, 82, of Oxford died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, in Salem.
Born Sept. 20, 1928, in Oxford, he was the son of William Fletcher Moss and Willie Elizabeth Cliff Moss. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Weaver on May 13, 1961, in Melbourne.
He served stateside in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He did a variety of jobs around the Oxford area. He operated the Oxford Garage and was the water superintendent for the City of Oxford, a volunteer fireman and a farmer. He was a long-time member of Oxford Methodist-Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years; two sons, David Moss of Paragould and Bill Moss of Jonesboro; a daughter, Gina Carpenter of Oxford; a brother, Herbert Moss of Oxford; four sisters, Sue Howard of North Carolina, Jo Nichols of Benton and Jetta Peters and Rheta Blankenship, both of Oxford; eight grandchildren, Nathan Moss, Daniel Moss and Allison Moss, all of Paragould, Meghan Phillips, Halie Moss and Hanna Moss, all of Jonesboro, and Dalton Carpenter and Morgan Carpenter, both of Oxford; a great-granddaughter, Lily Jean Carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ann McKeever.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oxford Methodist-Presbyterian Church with Bobby Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
Pallbearers will be Terry Dillard, Bryan Dillard, Russell Sherrell, Steve Stevenson, Nathan Moss and Daniel Moss.
Honorary pallbearers are Larry Thomas, Mike Warden, John Oliver, Bill Martin, Greg Moss and Dalton Carpenter.
